Connaught Rugby

The Skeff Bar is an avid Rugby fan and is delighted to sponsor Mike McCarthy of Connaught Rugby.

Now in his second term with Connacht, Mike McCarthy is not only one of the side’s most consistent performers but also one of the most versatile, having played in all five positions in the back five.

Mike joined Connacht for the beginning of the 2003-04 season, where the highlight was reaching the European Challenge Cup semi final against Harlequins. From Connacht he joined Newcastle Falcons and stayed there from 2004-07, where he helped them reach the Heineken cup quarter final at Parc de Prince and was named the supporters’ player of the season in 2006.

McCarthy decided to rejoin Connacht at the beginning of the 2007/08 season, bringing former England International prop, Robbie Morris, west with him and hasn’t looked back since.
